i ran a super smash brothers club in high school and we literally had to shut it down for this reason. like the class that used the room after us was complaining that the room was unusable
Friend saw this in Lubbock
I used to feel really bad about things like this. Like, I don’t wanna insult anyone’s life choices.
But I was sat next to a young man at a Magic tournament and the sheer intensity of the smell emanating from him was so bad that it was making people within a 10-foot radius visibly nauseous.
Someone (I think the event organizer) very tactfully asked him if he minded sitting nearer to the door, because “another customer was very sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke”. I’m pretty sure he didn’t smoke, he just hadn’t washed himself or his clothes in the last month or two.
Anyway, the guy spent a few seconds clearly confused, then put two and two together. Instead of being mad or offended, he was so cool about it and apologized to everyone in the shop, not at all ashamed of what was probably very embarrassing for him. Even thanked the store owner for so politely pointing it out, since he hadn’t actually been aware of his own smell.
I’m a strong believer in the idea of letting everything you say and do come from a place of love. And I think now looking back, I understood that it was more caring to say something kindly, than to smile and put up with it.
