Poppet recipe

Poppets are very versatile and powerful form of sympathetic magic.  (And underrated IMO)   Most of my poppets are made from a salt dough like recipe, of course one could make a cloth poppet, but some of us cannot sew for shit.  This is a quick and easy way to make a basic poppet.

You the basic recipe you will need:

1 cup flour (any type of flour works)

¼ cup salts (table salt works)

1 cup water

1 dash oil, vegetable oil works just fine

2 tablespoons lemon juice or 1 tablespoon cream of tartar, not both.  This is because of its acidity.

Put all of the ingredients mixed in a pan on low to medium heat.  This mixture will be very sticky but you will need to keep mixing this until it becomes thick and not sticky.  That is when you know the dough is ready and it can be removed from the heat.  This is when you will shape the poppet in the form of what you want, usually a person.  I like to get a photo of the person I am doing a spell on, write their name on the back of the photo and put that paper into the back of the poppet.

When this is done you will either breathe life (X good post by @qedavathegrey on that) into the poppet or bless it (smoke and holy water works fine) and name it.

The thing about this recipe is that more ingredients like oils and herbs can be added into the dough with no issue.  This is what makes poppets so useful as they can be employed in a variety of works.

I find that most liquids work well in place of water, be it tea, war water, etc etc.
