The really hilarious thing about the “is X the Dark Souls of Y?” debate is that the purist criteria for being the Dark Souls of something have become so stultifyingly narrow that, by a strict reading, even Dark Souls isn’t the Dark Souls of anything.

That’s because Dark Souls is the NES Castlevania of Dark Souls.
